Prevention Against Sexual Harassment

The primary aim of this cell is to provide guidelines for protection from sexual harassment, fundamental right to work with dignity and to handle related complaints received or referred to the cell. The cell is to create and maintain an atmosphere in which staff, faculty and students, can work together in an environment free of violence, harassment, exploitation, and intimidation. It includes all forms of gender violence, sexual harassment, and discrimination on the basis of sex/gender. The Cell aims to evolve a mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender based violence in the institution.

 

Functions of Cell:

·         1. Cell has to conduct awareness programs among the staff and students.

           2. Provide an environment free of gender-based discrimination.

           3. Ensure equal access of all facilities and participation in activities of the college 

           4. Create a secure physical and social environment which will deter acts of sexual harassment

           5. Promote a social and psychological environment that will raise awareness about sexual harassment in its various forms.

Annual Report 2020-21

Annual Activities:

·         Online Lecture:

The Introductory Online Lecture was organized for the girl students enrolled in the academic year 2020-21 on 24th September 2020 by Dr S.B. Bhingardive. She gave information about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell according to The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal, act 2013)

·         Establishment of Veerangana Pathak:

Since 2015, the Veerangana Pathak is functioning vigorously in the college. This pathak is basically is the group of selected girls who try to maintain the discipline in the college which builds leadership quality in by empowering them. The basic principle behind the establishment of Veeranagana Pathak is to empower the girl students.

Veerangana Pathak was established on 24th Feb. 2021 in the college. Hon. Ashokrao Rohamare, Chairman, Kopargaon Taluka Education Society, was the chairman for the program.

·         National Level Webinar:

A National Level Webinar was organized on 5th Oct. 2020 on the topic ‘Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment’ there were the two speakers: Adv Dr Sheetal Babar, Visiting Faculty, Fergusson Law College, Pune and Dr Amruta Bhuskute Smt Binzani Women College, Nagpur. Particularly Hon . Adv Dr Sheetal Babar raised the awareness about power relations in men and women, exploitation on women, gender equality concerns, and the laws beneficial for women regarding their safety and security.

 Dr Amruta Bhuskute Smt Binzani Women College, Nagpur delivered lecture on ‘Psychology Aspect of Gender Equality’.  She focused on the desperate need to change the perspective of the people regarding the Gender Equality to decrease the physical and mental exploitation of women. 56 participants actively participated in the webinar.

 

·         Lecture:

Prof. Neeta Shinde delivered online lecture for the girl students on 8th March 2021 on the occasion of International Women Day. The lecture was regarding the women exploitation and the need of Gender Equality.
