National conference on “Role of Academic and Administrative Audit in Institutional Quality Improvement”

REPORT Two days National Conference on Role of IQAC: “Academic and Administrative Audit for Improvement in Institutional Quality” was held in the premises of K. J. Somaiya College of Arts, Comm. & Science, Mohanirajnagar, Kopargaon on 21st & 22nd January 2016. Hon. Dr. S. B. Nimse, Vice- Chancellor, Lucknow University, Lucknow and Hon. Principal Dr. M. R. Kurup, Secretary, Kelkar Education Society, Mumbai inaugurated this conference. Dr. B. B. Bhosale, Coordinator of conference (NCAAAIIQ-16) opened the session with welcome address to chief guest. Principal, Dr. B. S. Yadav clarified the approach and his views behind conducting this conference. Dr. M. R. Kurup focused in his presentation that the 90% success of any institution or failure lies in the hands of teachers. Teacher is the central element in the success of institution. Dr. M. R. Kurup created awareness among the minds of participants that teachers is a magician and they can do magic through their teaching. He also says, teachers should trigger questions in the mind of the students rather than readymade answers. In his key note address, he emphasis on Academic Audit which includes vision, mission, purpose of audit, Audit process, Teaching learning & evaluation Audit. He also emphasis on teachers quality. commitment of teachers. He thoroughly explains Audit report structure and the advantages of audit. In the same way, Hon. Dr. S. B. Nimse, Vice- Chancellor, Lucknow University, Lucknow also gave the importance to quality education and skilled staff. He gave the example of Harvard Ranking No. 1 University in the world. He discussed the strategies this university has adopted to stand ranking one in the world. He also discussed such university required the teachers from all over the world who are extra ordinary in their fields and give them highest salary. Principal Dr. H. V. Deshpande also emphasized on the importance of quality education and stressed on why audit is important. He gave the detailed process and performa of the academic and administrative audit. Also in his speech he reviewed the function of IQAC. On the second day in first session Dr. Shashank Dalvi, Vice Chancellor, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Pravaranagar, delivered a very excellent and knowledgeable lecture on Academic and administrative Audit in Medical Science. He gave several examples and current innovation in Audit of Medical field. The same point was very well carried out on the next days by Chief Guest Hon. Rajan Welukar, Provost, Somaiya Vidyavihar and Ex. Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University. In a very simple language and effective way he gave the significance of what is Audit in everybody’s life and at the same time for the progress of Institution? He defined the progress of humanity in four ages those are Information Age, Knowledge Age, Innovative Age and finally we are lived in that is ‘Applied Innovative Age’. He concluded his beautiful address with L.L.L. formulary that is Life Long Learning. Post lunch session was chaired by Hon. Principal Dr. Vijay Joshi, K. J. Somaiya Science and Commerce College, Vidyavihar, Mumbai. He said the lecturing method has become out dated in this scenario and teachers need to use student centered two way method in teaching. He emphasized on the charging of classroom and questioned to the gathering at his conclusion that, Are we innovative in teaching?

Peer Reviewed International Journal on Role of IQAC: “Academic and Administrative Audit for Improvement in Institutional Quality with ISSN: 2278-9308 was published by Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarjerao Nimse, Lucknow University and Dr. M. R. Kurup, Secretory, Kelkar Education Society, Mumbai. This Journal contained 38 Full length Research Papers written by renowned Research Scholars like Hon. Dr. Ganesh Hegde,Assistant Adviser, NAAC, Dr. M. R. Kurup, Secretory, Kelkar Education Society, Mumbai, etc. A 'Souvenir' with ISBN: 978-93-84659-16-5 was also published by Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarjerao Nimse, Lucknow University and Dr. M. R. Kurup, Secretory, Kelkar Education Society, Mumbai. This Souvenir contained 38 Abstracts and valuable messages of dignitaries like Dr. R. P. Sing, Director, NAAC, Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sarjerao Nimse, Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar, etc.
National Conference on Revised Accreditation Framework: Issues and Perspectives Sponsored by NAAC

Kopargaon Taluka Education Society’s K. J. Somaiya College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Kopargaon Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Report of the NAAC sponsored A Two-Day National Conference on Revised Accreditation Framework: Issues & Perspectives A two day national conference on ‘Revised Accreditation Framework : Issues and Perspectives’ was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kopargaon Taluka Education Society’s K. J. Somaiya College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Kopargaon with the financial support from NAAC, Bangalore during 9th to 10th August, 2019. The conference was basically organized for Principals, IQAC coordinators, IQAC committee members and NAAC steering Committee members. For this conference, 83 Participants registered their names and were present for two days. Research papers related with NAAC’s Revised Accreditation Framework were invited and 30 participants sent their papers of which 24 papers were peer reviewed and found suitable for publication. These 24 papers have been published in a conference proceeding entitled ‘Revised Accreditation Framework: Issues & Perspective’. The broad objectives and sub-themes of this conference were as follows: Revised Assessment and Accreditation Framework Role of IQAC in quality improvement of HEIs Role of ICT in Assessment and Accreditation Online filling up of AQAR Criteria-wise lectures of Resource persons. Shinde on 9th August, 2019 and valedictory function was held in the auspicious presence of Dr. Ganesh Hedge, Deputy Advisor of NAAC, Bangalore on 10th August, 2019 at 5.30 p.m. Feedback The feedback given by the participants is very encouraging to the hosts as well as to the resource persons. The participants commented from the bottom of their hearts that the said conference has really enhanced their knowledge and deepened their understanding of the revised accreditation framework. The participants really appreciated the in depth knowledge given by Dr. Ganesh Hegde in his marathon lecture of three hours. Also, hands-on training given by Prof. Bharart Kangude was very much appreciated by the participants. The participants from rural area thanked the organizers for arranging this conference at Kopargaon. Many participants requested the organizers that such events be organized at regular interval of time to enhance their understanding and keep them abreast of changes in revised accreditation framework. Outcome of the conference The conference was well organized and resource persons were invited according to the seven criterion of revised accreditation framework of NAAC which enabled the participants to upgrade their knowledge about RAF. Many participants came to know about the feedback mechanism, maintaining documents for NAAC, DVV, Research and Innovation in Revised Accreditation Framework, The Importance of Curricular aspects in Revised Accreditation Framework, Institutional Values and Best Practices, Student Support and Progression, Governance Leadership and Management, Teaching, Learning and Evaluation, The Use of ICT in Assessment and Accreditation, and Issues in Revised Accreditation and Assessment Framework.
